National Quest Day

An annual celebration of the identities and journeys of QuestBridge Scholars and Alumni. 
 

Celebrating our community — 11 years and counting

Every November for the last 11 years, QuestBridge Scholars and Alumni have come together to celebrate National Quest Day — a vibrant annual tradition dedicated to honoring our community's accomplishments, stories, and identities. This special day highlights the power of connection and the remarkable journeys of those who are a part of the QuestBridge network.

National Quest Day is an opportunity to reflect on the transformative impact of the connections fostered through QuestBridge. Through shared experiences, storytelling, and community-building activities, we celebrate the resilience, ambition, and dreams of QuestBridge Scholars and Alumni. While the day itself takes place in November, the celebrations span the entire month, creating multiple opportunities for engagement both in-person and online.

Since its inception over a decade ago, National Quest Day reflects how lives can be transformed through education and connection. As we look to the future, we’re excited to continue building a legacy of support, inspiration, and celebration within our growing community — now, 30,000+ strong.

How we celebrate

National Quest Day is more than just a day — it’s a month-long celebration that invites all members of the QuestBridge community to participate in ways that are meaningful to them. Here are some key ways we celebrate:

Community events

From campus-based QSN gatherings to regional Alumni Club meetups, National Quest Day is a time to build connections. Events range from social outings and creative workshops to themed celebrations like dessert potlucks, mini-golf nights, and even time capsule creations. 

Fun and engaging activities

National Quest Day is filled with opportunities to connect through playful and creative activities. In 2024, our Game Pack included QuestBridge-themed fun that embodied the spirit of fun and collaboration that defines our community. Get the 2024 Game Pack →

QSN Spirit Showcase

Campus chapters of the QuestBridge Scholars Network (QSN) come together to participate in the annual QSN Spirit Showcase, celebrating their unique chapter culture and competing for prizes. This event highlights the energy, creativity, and pride of our Scholars.

Stories of connection and gratitude

Each year, Scholars and Alumni are invited to submit stories that celebrate their journeys and identities to our National Quest Day storyboard. In 2024, we asked our community to share stories of connection and gratitude. We received nearly 500 submissions — read a few highlighted submissions below. 

“QuestBridge has been the sole key to unlocking my potential in college. Since I matched, the University of Chicago has offered me endless opportunities to immerse myself in career-related endeavors, a wide range of student organizations, and an enjoyable social life. I am currently part of my school's East African Student Association, Organization of Black Students, Trot Business Program, and Data Science Society.I am looking forward to joining an additional STEM organization this fall, as well as intramural soccer! Before the college application process, I had no idea where my college journey would lead me, but thanks to Questbridge, I can pursue my passions and hobbies in college without worrying about associated costs. I have found a close-knit FLI (first-generation, low-income) community through my school's QuestBridge Scholar Network, which hosts many fun events, and even my school's local FLIbary, where I can grab snacks and engage with other FLI students. ”

“I am grateful for the amazing and supportive community that helped me when I matched with Dartmouth. After getting matched, I felt very anxious about coming to Dartmouth. I was worried I wouldn't fit in for being low-income and first-generation. Also, having a single mother and four siblings, I was worried about how I could continue helping my family while on the other side of the country. I expressed these concerns to my teachers and friends in high school and they all helped me with my worries. They reminded me of how many opportunities Dartmouth has for me, and that I am competent enough to go here. At Dartmouth, through the First Year Summer Enrichment Program for FGLI (first-generation, low-income) students, I learned that not only do I belong at Dartmouth, but Dartmouth is a better place because of me! I will forever be grateful for the encouragement and sense of belonging I received from my friends, family, teachers, first-generation community, and the QuestBridge community!”

“This past year has been transformative for Oklahoma and my community. In May 2020, I graduated from Emory University and rediscovered my passion for community engagement and public service. Inspired by Emory’s dedication to research and service, I took action.In late 2023, at the age of 25, I ran for the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board of Education, a district serving over 35,000 students, and in 2024 became the first Guatemalan-American elected to public office in Oklahoma. This milestone reflects both personal achievement and the values instilled in me at Emory.As a volunteer elected official and a proud QuestBridge Alum, I’m reminded of the power of dreaming big and pursuing ambitious goals. My work for students is fueled by the same passion I saw daily on campus. I’m deeply grateful to the Emory Alumni network, including those in Oklahoma, for their support and to the Emory community for inspiring me to strive for excellence and make a difference in my hometown.”
