Finalists who rank Dartmouth

If you are a Finalist who ranked Dartmouth, your National College Match application will be sent to Dartmouth, and you will need to submit the following requirements to the school by November 1. If you have questions after reviewing the information below, please reach out to the school directly.

Requirements

Dartmouth College Application Status Portal Activation

QuestBridge will send Finalists’ applications to college partners on October 16, and Dartmouth College may need a couple of days to import them into their system. Once processed, Dartmouth College will then email you instructions to log in and activate your applicant portal, where you can track the status of the materials you submit.

Dartmouth Writing Supplement and QuestBridge Addendum

After your QuestBridge Application has been forwarded to Dartmouth, you will receive instructions via email to access the Dartmouth Application Portal. Once you have access to the Application Portal, complete the Dartmouth Writing Supplement and QuestBridge Addendum located within this portal. The specific questions in the supplement can be found in advance on the Dartmouth website

Official Transcript(s)

Additional transcripts are not required for consideration in the Match, but Dartmouth welcomes quarter grades or midterm grades if available in November. All applicants, including those who match with Dartmouth, must submit the QuestBridge Midyear Report when first semester or trimester senior grades become available. This is typically in January or February. School counselors should email these updates to the Dartmouth Admissions Office (see Contact Information below).

Test Scores
Self-Reported or Official Reports

SAT code: 3351
ACT code: 2508

Applicants to Dartmouth from high schools within the United States must submit results of either the SAT or ACT, with no institutional preference for either test. The results of multiple administrations will be super-scored (we will consider the highest result on individual sections of either exam regardless of the test date or testing format). More information on Dartmouth's testing policy can be found here

If you cannot send official test scores to Dartmouth in time, your school counselor or teacher should email a copy of your score report to the Dartmouth Admissions Office (see Contact Information below). You can also self-report scores on your application, and we will consider these scores until we receive your official score report. Official scores will be required for students who enroll at Dartmouth.

You are welcome to submit Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate scores through your Application Portal to illustrate your academic strengths.

If your first language is not English and your secondary school curriculum has not been delivered in English for at least two years, we require you to submit an English proficiency exam score from the TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or Cambridge English exam. If English is your first language or the primary language of instruction at your current secondary school, you will not be required to submit scores from an English proficiency exam.

Submit as soon as available

The 2025-26 FAFSA will be available intermittently after October 1. We understand this may cause delays in submission and have extended the deadline for the FAFSA to February 1 for Early Decision and QuestBridge National College Match applicants. The FAFSA should be submitted directly to Dartmouth.

If you are undocumented, follow the instructions for undocumented students applying for financial aid.

Early Decision

For Finalists who do not match, if Dartmouth is your definitive first choice, you may roll your QuestBridge application into the Early Decision pool. With this process, you agree that if admitted you will enroll at Dartmouth and withdraw any applications you may have submitted to other institutions. If you wish to take advantage of this option, please make sure the following materials are completed in the Dartmouth Application Portal by Friday, December 6:

  • A completed Early Decision Intention Form. This must be digitally signed by your parent/guardian and school counselor (required).
  • A completed Dartmouth Writing Supplement and QuestBridge Addendum. If you haven’t already completed this, you are not eligible to roll into Dartmouth's Early Decision pool, but they look forward to reviewing your application again in the Regular Decision round.
  • A Peer Recommendation (optional).

If you have questions, please reach out to [email protected].

Regular Decision

All Finalists who ranked Dartmouth for the Match but did not match to a binding college will automatically have their applications moved into the Regular Decision process. Once your QuestBridge application has been submitted to Dartmouth, it is not possible to switch to Common App. However, if you’d like to submit a correction, or a new essay, you may do so by uploading additional materials via your Application Portal. If you have not already completed the Dartmouth Writing Supplement, QuestBridge Addendum and submitted standardized testing, you should do so in your Dartmouth Application Portal. You are also encouraged to accept the opportunity to participate in an alumni interview if you are invited to do so, and invite a peer to complete a Peer Recommendation on your behalf. Instructions to submit the Peer Recommendation are available in the Dartmouth Application Portal. Additional materials will be reviewed so that the latest, most accurate information will be considered when reviewing your application.

If you no longer wish to be considered, you must request that your application be withdrawn by completing the “Application Withdrawal Request Form,” available through the Dartmouth Application Portal

Regular Decision Requirements:

Step 1: Select Dartmouth College on the QuestBridge Regular Decision Form on your Application Management page between November 4 - December 9. Only check the box if you fully intend to submit a complete application to Dartmouth College (including all of the materials detailed in the table below).

Step 2: Activate your Dartmouth College Applicant Portal. QuestBridge will send Finalists’ applications to Dartmouth College on December 12 and Dartmouth College may need a couple days to import them into their system. Use the Dartmouth College applicant portal, sent to you via email, to track the status of your materials you submit to Dartmouth College.

Step 3: Submit all additional required application and financial materials by the applicable deadlines directly to Dartmouth College as detailed in the table below.
