CSS PROFILE

If you are selected as a finalist for the National College Match, you may need to file a financial aid form called the CSS PROFILE. This form is administered by the College Board and is required by most private colleges for students applying for scholarships and financial aid whether they apply through QuestBridge or through the normal admission process. This form requires a fee to complete and submit it to the College Board. Please be aware that this fee is not paid to QuestBridge, but to the College Board, and it is a fee you will have to pay no matter how you apply to college. QuestBridge is in no way affiliated with the College Board.

According to the College Board:

All students are charged $25 for the initial application. This covers the costs of creating your PROFILE Application and the first school report. You will be charged $16 for each additional college or program to which you want information sent. This covers the cost of processing and reporting your information to those colleges and programs. A limited number of fee waivers are granted to first-time college applicants from families with very low incomes and few assets. The fee waiver covers the cost of PROFILE registration and reporting to up to six colleges or programs. Fee waivers are awarded automatically online based on family financial information. You don't need to apply for a fee waiver.

The CSS PROFILE is a long application that may take several days to complete. We recommend that students wait to submit it until they are notified of their finalist status. If not chosen as a finalist, you can choose not to submit it until you have decided if you want to apply through regular decision.

If the CSS PROFILE fees create a significant financial problem for you, we recommend a quick round of fundraising in your community. Your local church, synagogue, or Rotary club may be willing to help support you. Also consider contacting your employer, your parents' employers, and other businesses in your area. Note that it may be more difficult for large businesses to donate on short notice. When contacting potential donors, be sure to give them a clear picture of how you will use the money, why it is important to you, how much you need to raise in order to meet your goal, and how soon you need it.
