The QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship is designed for high school juniors who have achieved academic excellence in the face of economic challenges.
All of the following are taken into account when considering an application:
QuestBridge does not use fixed cut-offs in assessing applicants' academic or socio-economic qualifications.
QuestBridge seeks students whose academic achievement demonstrates that they have the potential to be strong applicants to highly selective colleges.
Some of the factors we use to assess academic ability include:
Grade Point Average (GPA): Both unweighted and weighted GPAs are considered.
Class rank: The majority of awardees are in the top 5 to 10% of their class.
Rigor of high school curriculum: Awardees typically take
the most challenging courses available at their high school.
Standardized test scores: PSAT, PLAN, SAT and ACT scores, as well as any SAT Subject Test and/or AP test results, are considered.
Essays: Most awardees' essays show evidence of
intellectual spark, determination, and altruism in addition to strong writing ability.
Teacher Recommendation: The Teacher Recommendation tells us how a student interacts in the classroom and compares to other students at his or her school.
It is important to note that QuestBridge seeks to provide scholarships to students who come from families experiencing financial difficulties.
Some of the factors we use to assess financial need include:
Annual household income: Last year's scholarship recipients typically came from households earning between $0 and $60,000 annually. If you come from a household earning more than this amount
but still feel that you have faced economic hardship, there is room on the application to explain
your situation.
Additional information about your household
circumstances such as:
Number of people in the household.
The cost of living in your area.
Other financial commitments, such as medical bills or support payments to family members outside the United States.
Your parents' level of education:
Many award recipients are among the
first generation in their family to attend a four-year college.
Extenuating circumstances:
For example, working to help parents pay the bills, time spent
caring for younger siblings in the absence of parents or other adults, or difficult living conditions.
Other achievements:
Accomplishments and leadership positions in extracurricular and community activities.
Standardized test scores are not required, but are given significant weight in the selection process. QuestBridge strongly encourages students to submit any PSAT, PLAN, SAT, ACT, AP, or SAT Subject Test scores they may have received.
You must be a high school junior at the time of application.
US citizens, Permanent Residents, and international students residing in the United States are eligible to apply for the College Prep Scholarship.
