QuestBridge Fein Fellows

If you are a Jewish high school junior who meets the QuestBridge criteria of academic excellence, economic need, and demonstrated leadership potential, you will automatically be considered for an additional award program offered by the Edward Fein Foundation and aimed at reaching Jewish students.

The Fein Fellows award program was launched in 2008. More than 25 students were selected and became our first-ever recipients. Two students were chosen to participate in summer programs at Harvard and Yale; others received laptop computers and SAT preparation courses. All received QuestBridge College Prep Scholarships.

The Edward Fein Foundation would like to congratulate Andre Shomorony, Fein Fellow 2008, who was also awarded a full four-year College Match Scholarship and will be a freshman at Yale in 2009.

About the Scholarship

Through the Edward Fein Foundation Scholarship Awards program at QuestBridge, the Foundation seeks to ensure access to higher education for high-achieving Jewish students who may lack the financial resources necessary to secure the highest quality education available.

The program is open to all Jewish high school juniors who meet the QuestBridge criteria of academic excellence, economic need, and demonstrated leadership potential.

Qualifying students selected as "Fein Fellows" will receive scholarships to selective university-based summer programs at Brandeis, Harvard, Notre Dame, Stanford, or Yale, laptop computers, and scholarships for SAT preparation courses. In addition, Fein Fellows will be offered:

  • One-on-one college essay counseling with a trained QuestBridge advisor to discuss essay topics and the mechanics of a successful college essay. Editors will personally review submitted drafts of essays and offer feedback for improvement.

  • Automatic invitation to one of two College Admissions Conferences nationwide where winners of the Edward Fein Foundation Scholarship Awards will meet in person with individual counselors to discuss their plans for the college application process. (In person meetings are subject to some geographic limitations.)

  • An evaluation of each student's academic profile and suggestions on possible actions to take to improve an applicant's prospects. Advice may cover which classes to take during a student's senior year and strategies for which standardized tests to take.

  • Advice on completing the college application, including how to fill out each section effectively and how to prepare a balanced overall application.

  • Answers to financial aid questions and guidance in completing and submitting the FAFSA and CSS PROFILE.

  • Information to help students make the most informed decisions about the process, including how to choose which colleges to apply to and where to ultimately enroll.
