Outside Scholarships The first $500 plus half of the remainder of any outside merit-based scholarships will replace that same amount of the campus job component of the aid award, and the balance will replace the Swarthmore Scholarship. As an example: a $1,000 outside merit-based scholarship will reduce the Swarthmore Scholarship by $250 and will reduce the campus job opportunity by $750. If student is not covered by a parental plan, Swarthmore will cover the cost of the College's plan. Students must formally enroll in the insurance program to receive this benefit.
