Outside Scholarships Outside scholarships may be used to reduce a student's work-study contribution. Scholarships in excess of $1,700 will be used to reduce the Bowdoin grant. Health Insurance Bowdoin requires all students to have health insurance, either through their parents or another plan. If student is not covered by a parental plan, the Bowdoin grant will be increased to cover the $1,000 student insurance plan. Other Details Students are expected to contribute 25% of their personal savings toward college expenses. This contribution will decrease the amount of the Bowdoin grant dollar for dollar.
