Available Majors and Career Preparation

  • Wesleyan offers 44 majors in 38 different departments and programs; certificate programs are offered in environmental studies, international relations, informatics and modeling, and Jewish and Israeli studies.

  • Wesleyan has described a set of guiding principles that define its approach to liberal education. These principles are summed up in ten essential capabilities that the faculty believe every undergraduate should possess when he or she graduates from Wesleyan. The University also maintains a set of general education expectations in the arts and humanities, the social sciences, and the natural sciences.

  • BA/MA Program in the Sciences: Wesleyan's faculty, facilities, and research support allow students majoring in science to receive a Bachelors Degree in four years and a Masters Degree at the end of the fifth year. The Masters Degree is tuition-free.

  • Interested in being Pre-Med? Through a grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Wesleyan Hughes Program supports undergraduate education in the Life Sciences, offering opportunities for advanced laboratory classes and independent research.
