Swarthmore Traditions

  • The Crum Regatta is an annual activity where students build their own boats and race them down the Crum River for a $100 prize.

  • The Pterodactyl Hunt is a fall activity where half the participating students act as monsters and half are hunters. The point of the game is for the hunters to kill pterodactyls, despite being hindered by monsters, in order to win free pizza.

What Quest Scholars say about housing...

“Dorms at Swarthmore are pretty old and small, but I really like them because they have lots of history. We select our rooms based on a lottery system, so sometimes you can get lucky and pick into a room you like. Also seniority counts, so seniors get the best rooms.”
- Candice Cherk, Biology and Asian Studies double major, Class of 2007
