  • Amherst offers free physical education classes available at the gym in areas ranging from jogging to tai chi to beginning squash and even personal training.
  • With 7 a cappella groups on campus and 3 choral groups, Amherst truly is ‘the singing college.’ Include the 70-piece concert orchestra, numerous jazz ensembles, Gospel Choir, and you’ve got a place where approximately 70% of students participate in making music in one way or another.
  • Amherst life always features an intensely playful rivalry with Williams College, which is located about an hour and half away. Whether it’s football, basketball, field hockey, debate team or mock trial, Amherst students put in just a little more energy when it comes to competing with Williams.
